For the second consecutive year, the Spring-Ford Youth Athletic League under-14 Rams won Audubon's Gary Beal Memorial tournament with a 5-0 record that included two victories over a very good Methacton team in the best-of-three championship series.
The Rams compiled a 3-0 record in the preliminary round and won the games by a combined total of 43 runs while only surrendering five.
Outstanding pitching performances were turned in by Kristin Robinson, Alyssa Mack and Kelsey Griffin. Behind the plate, Alexa Nadwodny and Danielle Miles were tremendous despite the high temperatures. The pitchers were also supported by the great defensive play of Brittany Moore, Sarah Brown, Kerry Miller, Stef Cifarelli and Lindsey Smith.
The Spring-Ford offense was sparked by Katie Eliff, Krissi Fitzgerald, Robinson and Nadwodny.
Ryan Shannon, of Royersford and an eighth-grader at Devon Prep, received the Baseball Sportsman Award. Seventh-grader Christopher Clayton, of Phoenixville, received the Baseball Sprit Award; Michael Giampietro, of Phoenixville and also a seventh-grader, was named the Soccer MVP Award winner; while seventh-grader Segismundo, of Phoenixville, received the Basketball Sportsmanship Award.
