PHOENIX STAFF REPORTLOWER POTTSGROVE -- Phoenixville's girls tennis team swept the singles matches and held on at fourth doubles to take a 4-3 victory over host Pottsgrove in a Pioneer Athletic Conference match Thursday afternoon.

Kelly Foedinger, Liz Uyeno and Kelly Lynch recorded singles victories for the Phantoms (2-0). Foedinger and Uyeno won shutout verdicts while Lynch won a three-set affair over the Falcons' Katie Rudzenski 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The Phantoms' doubles victory came from Maddie Trainer and Maygan Henzie, who beat Abby Miller and Sharon Stahl 6-4, 6-4.

The Falcons claimed the first three singles matches in straight sets, including two tiebreakers in the second sets at second and third doubles.

Phoenixville next travels to Downingtown East Tuesday for a non-league meet.
