Great Valley (19-4), the second seed from District 1, managed to get three base runners in the contest. It was the first time this season the Patriots were shut out.
Losing pitcher Michelle Kenney was hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning and then walked in the fourth. Then in the seventh inning, Kristin Stauffer reached on an error, stole second base and reached third on a ground out. But she was stranded there.
For Donegal, the top seed from District 3, this was the fourth straight game in the playoffs the team won by shutout.
"We played good defense and they played good defense," Great Valley assistant coach Rob Montgomery said. "They were just able to get the hits today. We are extremely proud of the girls to get this far."
Kenney, a senior headed to the University of Delaware, allowed all singles, no walks and struck out six. She is one of three seniors in the starting lineup for the Patriots, along with Stauffer and catcher Lisa Zelig.
"Michelle pitched well," Montgomery said. "She mixed up her pitches well."
