Blackwell drops six-round decision in return to ring

Phoenixville resident Jules Blackwell was on a professional boxing card at the 2300 Arena in south Philadelphia on March 18.

Blackwell, who was involved with boxing previously and is now making another attempt at it, is now 35 years old. The 5-9 Blackwell weighed in at 132.2 pounds.

Blackwell faced Jerome Conquest in a six-round lightweight division bout on a nine-fight show promoted by Hall of Famer J. Russell Peltz. The Blackwell fight was the second matchup on the card. Other promoters were Top Rank, Bam Boxing and Joe Hand Promotions.

Conquest won the bout on a six-round unanimous decision. The scores were 59-55, 59-55, 60-54. Conquest is now 4-1 with one knockout while Blackwell is 8-4-2 with three KOs.

Conquest, who is from north Philadelphia, stands 5-7. The 30-year-old boxer weighed in at 132 pounds.
