Willie "Preacher" Hampton, 77 years old, husband of Eula Mae (Scott) Hampton of Phoenixville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, in Phoenixville Hospital.

He was born in Sparta, Ga., a son of the late Jonas and Leola (Flagg) Hampton.

He worked as a concrete worker for C. Raymond Davis for 15 years, retiring in the 1980s, then became a personal taxi driver.

He enjoyed fishing and listening to Gospel music.

Surviving are a daughter, Willie Mae, wife of Willie Lee Smith of Sparta, Ga.; six grandchildren: Tyrone Hampton, Joanne Hampton, Pam Hampton, Willie "Lee" Hampton, Henry Hampton and Jonathan Smith; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters, Eva Mae, wife of Rev. Elijah Barnes, Ga., Gloria Jean, wife of Samuel Davenport, of Pennsylvania, Marion Jean, wife of James Cummings, Ga., and Thelma, wife of Thomas Owens, of Pennsylvania; and a twin brother, Wilbur Hampton of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by a son, Henry Hampton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in Bethel Baptist Church, 412 Fairview St., Phoenixville, on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop William H. Washington Jr. officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Morris Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville.
