Victim of fatal shooting at Norristown McDonald’s identified

Police found a man fatally shot late Tuesday night in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at Main and Markley streets in Norristown.

NORRISTOWN >> The victim of a fatal shooting in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on West Main Street on Tuesday night has been identified by police as Marquis Johnson, 24, of Coatesville, Chester County.

Police responded at 11:39 p.m. to the restaurant at 233 W. Main St. and found Johnson lying in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said Norristown police Lt. Mike Crescitelli in an email. “We are following up with video.”

The shooting is being investigated by the Norristown Police Department and Montgomery County detectives.

A man standing outside the McDonald’s on Wednesday morning, who declined to give his name, said he heard gunshots as he was leaving a bar about a block away from where the shooting occurred. He observed a flurry of police activity as he approached the intersection of Markley and Main streets. He said he saw investigators standing around what he assumed to be a dead body near the restaurant’s drive-thru window.
