PHOENIXVILLE -- The Rotary Club of Phoenixville will be collecting canned goods at every Phoenixville Phantoms home football game, starting tonight and throughout the entire season.
For those who plan on attending a football game this season, please bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to hand off to a Rotary Club member. They'll be stationed at every entrance of Washington Field.
According to Chuck Benz, club president, this is the fourth year the Rotary Club has been involved with this project.
"Every year it has become more and more successful," Benz said. "We had a tremendous food drive last year. The community came out to the games and brought out plenty of canned goods. We are starting up this weekend and would like to see the good will of the community once again.
"In addition, in November there will be a Food Drive Day at local grocery stores including Foresta's Market, Giant, Redner's and Acme. With the prices of home heating oil and gasoline, many more families will be in need of assistance with food items. We have identified a need and we are working as a club to help improve it."
The chairperson for the Football Game Canned Goods Drive is Josh Klotzbach.
