Phoenixville is the home of two homeless shelters, Good Samaritan Men's Shelter on High St. and St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter for families on Emmett St.

Phoenixville is also the home to Robert Ryan Catering and Columbia Station on Bridge Street.

What do these three places have in common? They all love food.

When Robert Ryan Catering has a last-minute cancellation or if a reservation has less people than expected, the perishable food goes to Good Samaritan and/or St. Mary's Shelter.

This Saturday, due to three weather-related cancellations, Robert Ryan Catering was able to donate to both Phoenixville Shelters. St. Mary's also networks with another shelter that is located in Norristown, who also received food this past weekend.

Stephanie Ryan, of Robert Ryan Catering and Columbia Station, said that they guys at Good Samaritan Shelter help them unload the food, hold open doors and are all around helpful and grateful for the donations.

Nate Hoffer, Director of Good Samaritan Shelter said, "Robert Ryan Catering has always been so generous. Just the other day when they dropped off some food one of our residents said, 'It's from Robert Ryan Catering, so you know it's good!'"

Robert Ryan Catering donates food to the shelters about every two weeks, depending on the weather and their schedules.

"They have provided us with an abundance of great food over the years. With their support we can offer 3 healthy meals per day to our residents. I am extremely grateful for their kindness," said Hoffer.

Robert Ryan Catering is a family owned on and off premise catering company that has been in Phoenixville since 1992. In 1998 the family bought and moved operations to Columbia Station on Bridge Street in Phoenixville.

Ryan said they are all very involved in the community and support their local community any way they can.
