ROYERSFORD -- Spring City's Sean Larkin pitched a one-hit shutout for six innings of the River Bandits' 8-0 Twin County League playoff victory over Phoenixville Tuesday night at Spring-Ford High School.
Larkin fanned seven batters as the River Bandits moved into the second round of the Junior American Legion playoffs against NorChester, a 6-3 victor over Boyertown, tonight at 5:30 at Ram Stadium.
Phoenixville's lone hit came in the top of the first inning. Cody Clarke hurled an inning of relief for Spring City.
The River Bandits reached the scoreboard with one run in the bottom of the first inning, then added two more runs in the fifth and exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kenny Pierson had three hits and drove in two runs for Spring City. Patrick Medley picked up one hit, drove in two runs and scored three times while Ricky Gorrell had one
hit and scored two runs.
Spring City defeated Phoenixville for the fourth time this season, with three of those victories coming during the regular season schedule.

NorChester 6, Boyertown 3: Sean Muscovitch pitched six innings for the victory, scattering eight hits, as the Big Dawgz held off the Boyertown Grizzlies in their first-round Twin County League game. Tim Ponto pitched the final inning for the save.
Robbie Patete and Brad Solomon each went 3-for-3 for NorChester. Jeff Evans, Ponto and Muscovitch each doubled and had an RBI while Sam Funk had a 2-for-3 outing for the Big Dawgz.
