Pinkus "Pinky" Stern, 80, husband of Gisela Stern, father of Bernard Stern and the late Max and Randy Stern, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, in his home.
Born in Transylvania, he was the son of the late Elazar and Sarah Stern.
Mr. Stern was a survivor of the Holocaust who was rescued by the American Army, which he later joined after becoming an American citizen.
He served in the Medical Corps and was stationed at the Valley Forge Army Hospital.
After leaving the military, he settled in Phoenixville and worked for GlaxoSmithKline as a lab technician/supervisor for 30 years until he retired.
He was a highly respected member of B'nai Jacob Synagogue, where he served in many leadership roles, including President of the congregation.
Through his spirituality, Judaic knowledge and kindness, he set a high standard for all the congregants, young and old alike.
He was also an active member of the YMCA, where he enjoyed the fellowship with his many friends at the fitness club.
Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at B'nai Jacob Synagogue, Starr and Manavon streets, Phoenixville, followed by a graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to B'nai Jacob Synagogue.
Arrangements are by Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home, Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville.
