PHOENIXVILLE - In an effort to make Bridge Street visually appealing to potential customers, the Phoenixville Area Business Association (PABA) voted Wednesday evening to order two sets of decorative applique flags to be hung on existing flagposts.
According to PABA President Ellie Acampora, of Ellie's Choice, the two sets of 42 flags represent spring and summer.
"We're ordering daffodil flags for the spring time," Acampora said. "For the summer, we'll have butterfly flags. It's things like this that'll make the downtown area more attractive and appealing to our customers."
The daffodil flags, measuring 30" x 47," will cost PABA $7.50 each while the butterfly flags, measuring 33" x 48," are priced at $10 each, said Acampora.
"The flags will be ordered this week and we should have them in by the end of the month. We'll be getting them from Evergreen Company in Richmond, Virginia," said Acampora. "They are applique, which means the daffodils and butterflies are of a different fabric that is sewn onto the flag foundation. They'll be heavier and durable, which should last us a few years."
In December, PABA ordered several decorative flags that were hung along Bridge Street during the holiday season.
"We got such a great response from the holiday flags that we decided to keep the momentum going," said Acampora.
