PHOENIXVILLE -- A new addition to BlobFest weekend is the First Annual Blob Ball, to be held at Tyler James Pub, 212 Bridge Street, on Friday, July 11, at 9 p.m.

In conjunction with BlobFest weekend, the Blob Ball is scheduled to begin shortly after the annual "running out scene" recreation at the Colonial Theatre, according to Jane Tucker, co-owner, Steel City Coffee House.

"Music will be provided by The River's Rockabilly Trio, who'll be playing some of the hottest music of the 1950s," said Tucker. "We invited people to dress in their 1950s best and compete in contests for best '50s hair, best '50s dress, best '50s scary movie character, and best '50s celebrity costume."

The event will be held on the second floor of Tyler James Pub, where there will be plenty of room to dance the night away to The Rivers Rockabilly Trio, a fixture at BlobFest. The trio has performed at BlobFest the last two years.

Tyler James Pub will serve up a thematic menu including Blob Jello Shots, Elvis Presley Fries, and the Buddy Holly Burger.

Support for the Blob Ball is provided by these following downtown Phoenixville businesses: Jaworski's Music, Ellie's Choice, Earth Mart, Diving Cat Studios, State Farm Insurance, Hipster Home, Virtual Farm Creative, Spiedie Bistro, The Colonial Theatre, Artisans Gallery & Cafe, Charmed Spirit, Best Friends, Fashionista's and Romantic Jewelers.

"All of these businesses are providing the great prizes for the contest winners during this event," said Tucker.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Tyler James Pub or Steel City Coffee House and on the Internet at www.steelcitycoffeehouse.com.

After 8 p.m. on the night of the event, tickets can only be purchased at Tyler James Pub.

"We are expecting a huge crowd," said Tucker. "We are asking people to get their tickets early so they won't be shut out of this great event."

A portion of each ticket sold will go to support the Colonial Theatre.

This is a 21-year-old and over event. The entire venue is non-smoking, but smoking is allowed outside the two main entrances of Tyler James Pub.
