Harry C. Mandell, Jr., age 80, died Friday evening, January 4, 2008, at the Barclay Friends Center, West Chester. Husband of the late Alice (Hamilton) Mandell, of Chester Springs.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Mandell was the son of the late Harry C. Sr., and Kathryn (Weiser) Mandell. A graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia, he received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for PennWalt Chemical Corp. for 40 years, and in the early 1990s retired as a Senior Vice-President. Mr. Mandell was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Chester Springs. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Mandell is survived by two daughters; Elizabeth J., wife of Ward J. O'Brien, of East Coventry and Carol J., wife of Terry Hannan, of West Chester. He is also survived by a sister, Jane (Paul) Hertel, of Lansdale; and three grandchildren. Mr. Mandell is pre-deceased by one son, Stephen C. Mandell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at the St. Peter's U.C.C., 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, on Friday, January 11, 2008, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev.
