Edith W. (Compton) Dewees, 93, wife of the late William Dewees, of East Coventry Township, died Monday evening, July 14, 2008, in the Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville.

Born in Manoa, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Amy (Winward) Compton.

Mrs. Dewees attended the Marple-Newtown High School.

She worked as an artist for the Dettra Flag Company in Oaks.

Mrs. Dewees was a member of the Royersford Church of the Nazarene for many years.

She volunteered her time to knit caps for newborns at Phoenixville Hospital. She also did needle work, making blankets for many friends and family. She was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.

Mrs. Dewees is survived by two daughters, Edith M., wife of Albert L. Toth, of Reading, and Fay V., wife of James J. Heffernen, of Plymouth Meeting; one son, W. Richard Dewees, of Parkerford; one sister, Alice V. Palen, of Prospect, CT; one brother, Arthur C. Compton, Jr., of West Chester; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Friday morning, July 18, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul W. Thornhill.

Burial will be at the Valley Forge Baptist Church Cemetery, Valley Forge.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday morning at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her name to the Pottstown Visiting Nurses Association, 1963 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
