EAST PIKELAND - The township meeting on April 9 was almost like an awards banquet.
Ken Smith, an officer with the township police, was presented with a plaque for his Police Officer of the Year award.
Smith won this award after his investigation lead to the arrest of two people using stolen credit card numbers.
The Phoenixville Veterans of Foreign War presented the township with $5,000 for Project Life Saver.
Officer Thomas Douglas received a certificate of appreciation for making the township roadways safe. In 2012, Douglas wrote 146 driving citations and made 17 driving under the influence arrests.
District Judge Theodore P. Michaels was honored for his 18 years of service to the community in the meeting as well.
Michaels was the judge for East Pikeland before the redistricting last year, according to East Pikeland Police Chief James Franciscus.
