WEST NORRITON -- The second of four Summer Cemetery Walks, "Military Men and Women of Historic Montgomery Cemetery" will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Montgomery Cemetery, 1 Hartranft Avenue, West Norriton. Established shortly before the Civil War, Montgomery Cemetery became the final resting place for many of the local soldiers after that conflict, as well as for years to come. Five Union generals and hundreds of veterans, Civil War nurses, a World War I pilot and more will be featured during this tour around Montgomery County's first non-sectarian cemetery. Visitors are welcome to this FREE event presented by the Historical Society of Montgomery County. This guided walk involves some uneven terrain and un-shaded areas. Presented on the 3rd Saturday through September, the other Cemetery Walk dates are August 16th and September 20, 2008.
