PHOENIXVILLE - Independence Day was celebrated in a variety of ways around town. In addition to cookouts and family get-togethers, the East Vincent Township Board of Supervisors hosted a ceremony at the Revolutionary War Soldiers' Cemetery along Route 23. In honor of the Revolutionary War soldiers, members of the Philadelphia Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution placed flags on the soldiers' graves. At night, community members gathered at Friendship Field for a colorful fireworks show.
