PHOENIXVILLE - The 300 block of Bridge Street was closed down for approximately three hours following a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt. Vince Pacifico, a yellow 2003 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 47-year-old Phoenixville male, was heading westbound on the 300 block of Bridge Street around 10:40 a.m. May 25.
"It appears the driver failed to negotiate the left-hand curve just past the Dollar Store," said Pacifico. "The side of the Sentra struck a portion of a PECO Energy pole, which caused the pole to lean upon the right-side of the vehicle"
Pacifico said the police re-routed traffic from the 300 block of Bridge Street for approximately three hours Tuesday morning.
"We closed the roadway for three hours until PECO could come out and secure the pole," said Pacifico. "We did that as a precautionary measure in case the pole collapsed. It appeared to be an older looking pole."
PECO workers came out and spent a portion of Tuesday morning placing a temporary brace around the pole, straightening it out in the process. No wires were damaged as a result of the accident, and no power outages were reported in the area.
The driver was taken to Phoenixville Hospital for minor injuries, while the vehicle was towed from the scene by Pejey's Auto Body, Phoenixville.
With no adverse weather conditions affecting the roadway, Pacifico said the accident is still under investigation.
