Officer Robert I. Sutton Jr. said he came into contact with Anna Lukeisha Marie Williamson, 24, of the 700 block of Bridge Street, Mont Clare, following a report of a retail theft around 11:28 a.m. July 1.
"I arrived at the Family Dollar Store and spoke to several employees," he said. "They told me that Williamson had picked up $18 worth of merchandise and placed it in a bag. She then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items."
Sutton said when an employee stopped Williamson from leaving the store, she began to shove the employee.
"The employees were able to keep her (Williamson) in the store until I arrived," said Sutton. "Williamson was with her nine-year-old daughter and her mother. I checked her bag and found the items that belonged to the store that weren't paid for."
After Williamson was placed under arrest, she was transported to the Phoenixville Police Station.
A search of Williamson's handbag revealed a small maroon pouch containing a glass pipe, and a small baggie with a green leafy vegetable matter, said Sutton.
"Also inside the pouch was a small unlabeled plastic bottle," he said. "The bottle contained 56 pills that are a Schedule II controlled substance, to which Williamson did not have a valid prescription for."
Williamson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, drugs, device or cosmetic; possession of drug paraphernalia; corruption of minors; retail theft; receiving stolen property; and disorderly conduct.
She was arraigned before District Justice Ted Michaels, and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, July 8 at 9 a.m.
