OAKS - Learn how to create a rain garden, and filter water, at a special presentation planned for Sept. 27 in Lower Perkiomen Valley Park.

Everyone is invited to come out to the park between 10 a.m. and noon to learn how to select the appropriate plants and install a rain garden as well as participate in the installation of a rain garden at the park. Presentations will be given at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Rain gardens are useful in filtering water and offering food and habitat for insects and wildlife.

Those interested in helping plant the park's rain garden will be provided with tools and equipment.

The event is held in cooperation with the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the county Division of Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites. It is perfect for children ages 6 and up. Plants for both children and adults will be provided.

This event will be held weather permitting. Participants should meet at the Main Pavilion. Lower Perkiomen Valley Park is located on New Mill Road in Oaks, easily accessible from Egypt Road off Route 422.
