COLLEGEVILLE >> New Jersey Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense office, announced that Collegeville Army veteran Earl “Buddy” Grater was honored with a ‘Patriot Award’ for supporting an Army Reservist that he hired to work with him at Thermoseal Industries, LLC., a Gloucester City, NJ manufacturing company.

In September 2014, Army Reservist Sgt. Justin Rebura was nearing the end of his nine month deployment to Afghanistan with the 808th Engineer Company when he discovered that his position at his Houston, Texas, employer had been filled in his absence. With a wife and three children at home depending on him, Rebura began remotely exploring his employment options with the support of the Forward Operating Base’s USO. The Sergeant arranged a phone interview with Thermoseal Industries Superintendent of Facilities and Equipment, Earl “Buddy” Grater. With Grater’s approval, Thermoseal offered Rebura a management positon, paid his relocation expenses and helped ease his transition by subsidizing a rental apartment while the Reservist arranged to move his family to New Jersey. Rebura nominated his supervisor for a “Patriot Award,” presented recently by the Department of Defense’s operational office, Employer Support of The Guard And Reserve, stating that “Earl (Buddy) Grater has been supportive of me and my commitment as a military member to our Country.”
