WEST GOSHEN — The Chester County Coroner’s Office Wednesday released the names of the two people involved in an apparent murder-suicide in London Britain.

In a press release, Coroner Dr. Christina VandePol identified the victim of the homicide as Barbara Palladino, 64, of London Britain, and stated that an autopsy determined she died of multiple shotgun wounds to the head in her residence on Oct. 10. Her death marked the first homicide of 2019 in the county.

The coroner also said that Dario Capriotti, 62, of Montgomery County, died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head at the same address. The case remains under investigation by the State Police at Avondale, she said.

In addition, VandePol said that four other county residents died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds suffered in their homes over the weekend. On Oct. 13, the office received two separate dispatches to firearm fatalities, one in West Chester and another in Caln. On Oct. 14, the coroner was again called to two unrelated firearm fatalities, one in West Chester and another in East Coventry.

The Daily Local News does not report the names of those who die of self-inflicted wounds in their homes, unless they are subjects of homicide investigations.

“This has been a week of tragedy for too many in our community,” VandePol said in her news release. “So many violent deaths in such a short period of time is an unusual and traumatic occurrence in Chester County. Except for the London Britain murder-suicide, we know of no connection between any of the other deaths. At this time we have been in contact with next of kin for each decedent and have completed our investigations.”
