POTTSTOWN — The Hill's Crew Winter Erging Program recently conducted an “Erg-A-Thon” to raise money for the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area, whose mission is to connect Pottstown-area residents, visitors and communities to the scenic Schuylkill River and the Schuylkill River Trail.

Hill School rowing coaches and athletes conducted free learn-to-erg classes, and two racing shells were on display at the Mercer Field House.

Hill School students have been collecting money for the Schuylkill River Greenways NHA from family and friends and in exchange they rowed their hearts out for 30 minutes per athlete, attempting to row as many meters as they can in that time.

Ergometer screens were projected to a large screen so the athletes could  race in real time and spectators were able to watch the "race.”

The Schuykill River is used by Hill School rowers as well as many other boaters and water enthusiasts in the Pottstown region.
