WEST CHESTER — Chester County Day, the longest-running house tour in the country, will be going virtual this year.
Sponsored by the Women’s Auxiliary to Chester County Hospital, it will feature the best of the best homes, gardens, historic sites, art and collectibles from the last 79 years. The 80th annual tour will take place on the first Saturday in October 2021.
This year’s virtual “79½” Chester County Day online experience will give you an entire month of Chester County Day leading up to “The Day” itself. Starting in mid-August, Chester County Day Newspaper articles will be available via the event’s website and social media pages. This year’s Chester County Day newspaper will highlight upcoming online and social media events to prepare you for the 79½ online virtual tour and provide general information to follow for the upcoming weeks.
Starting in early September, a different Chester County quadrant will be visited each week. Highlights will be presented daily in the form of short videos of homes and historic spots from prior years, articles of historical interest from past issues of the Chester County Day Newspaper of that quadrant, a short trivia question list from the corresponding area of the week, a featured menu from Chester County Day dinners published over the years and interviews with homeowners, architects, and others involved with “The Day.”
Also included each week will be recommendations of public historic sites to visit or drive by.
