UWCHLAN — The Chester County Coroner’s Office identified the teenage victim killed in a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday on Route 113 as Caroline Ellison, 18, of Exton.
Uwchlan Township Police Department said a crash involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of West Uwchlan Avenue, nearby the Lionville Middle School of the Downingtown Area School District.
The three occupants in the passenger vehicle were entrapped due to the severe damage the vehicle had sustained during the collision. Police said all three occupants had been transported to the hospital where Ellison died. The two other victims who were in the same vehicle as Ellison remain in critical condition, according to police.
The school bus driver said he was uninjured, and there were no passengers on the bus, according to police and Downingtown Area School District officials.
Ellison, a passenger in the vehicle, died as a result of blunt impact trauma to her head and neck due to the collision, with manner of death ruled as accidental, the Coroner’s Office announced on Friday.
Ellison, who was born in West Chester, had graduated from Downingtown East High School in 2018 where she was on the Swim and Dive team. According to her obituary, she had attended James Madison University and was on a path to study small business as an entrepreneur. Her family said in her obituary that she was an extreme animal lover and had her own dog hospitality business, sitting and walking dogs.
