PHOENIXVILLE - Kate's Kitchen Garden Herb Plants complement the weekly Phoenixville Farmers' Market, held Saturdays at the Foundry on Main Street in Phoenixville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kate Ramoth specializes in potted herbs, culinary herbs, herbal vinegars and iced tea.

Parsley, dill, chive, cilantro, barley and more are all available at the weekly market stand. Prices range from $1 to $6.

Although the grower is not certified organic, she does use organic methods. No chemicals are used, making the herbs environmentally friendly.

From South Carolina, Ramoth has been growing herbs for 10 years. She grows the plants at her home in Coatesville.

Kate's Kitchen debuted at the market this year and plans on returning. She attended as a customer last season.

"I think it's (the market) great. It's grown a lot. It's turning into a really great crowd. People seem really excited about it," Ramoth said.

Ramoth said she encourages eating locally and seasonally. She says herbs are not hard to cook with, and the taste is far better than in stores.

A vendor from the Farmers' Market at the Foundry is featured every week until the market closes for the winter on Oct. 30. A cooler with ice packs is a good idea to bring to the market to keep products fresh on the trip home.
