If you are a fan of acoustic guitar, consider hading to Phoenixville Saturday when Steel City Coffee House presents a 'Night of Extraordinary Guitars.'

The acoustic guitar has been consistently evolving from the moment of its birth. Many different styles have come and gone but today we are in an acoustic guitar renaissance. Shun Ng, Trevor Gordon Hall and Dan LaVoie are three of the world's top guitarists pushing to extend boundaries. They pursue the guitar in very different ways while playing very unique versions of the instrument.

The show features Shun Ng (pronounced: Shun ING), a gifted guitarist, singer, and songwriter born in Chicago, raised in Singapore, and now based out of Boston. He is an acclaimed international performer known for his unique style of guitar playing that infuses elements of Funk, Blues and Jazz. Shun dazzles audiences with his finger-style technique and passionate groove. With vocals that are simultaneously expressive beyond his years and innocent all at the same time, Shun's one-man-band performance is a unique experience.In a short time he is gaining passionate fans including the legendary Quincy Jones who when interviewed about Shun said, 'I was simply blown away by both his soul and his science - his creativity and his uniqueness is astounding.' Trevor Gordon Hall is from the outskirts of Philadelphia, He is an acoustic instrumentalist whose compositions range in style from driving rhythms to soft melodic phrases. Hall caught the eye of nine-time Grammy-winning producer Joe Nicolo (James Taylor, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, etc.), who produced two of Trevor's releases entitled 'Finding My Way' and 'Let Your Heart Be Light'. These releases garnered high reviews and gave him such opportunities to share the stage with artists such as Pat Martino, Phil Keaggy, Don Ross, Andy Mckee, Alex Skolnick, The California Guitar Trio, and Billy Cobham. He has collaborated with various builders to redesign an instrument called the kalimba, which mounts to the surface of the guitar.

Dan LaVoie is one of the few musicians in the world actively composing and performing on the rare harp guitar. He brings a unique sound and texture to fans of acoustic music.

Bridge Guitar Reviews said Dan's self-titled 2003 debut album contained '... a soulful atmosphere and a skilled and progressive approach to music. The music Dan produces has deep basses and well-excuted melody lines.'

Lavoie tours more than 100 dates a year throughout the U.S., England, Portugal, Czech Republic, Austria and British Columbia. He is also an annual performer at the Harp Guitar Gathering, a concert series featuring the world's finest harp guitarists.

He has opened for and shared the stage with Vance Gilbert, Steve Forbert, Brooks Williams, The Dave Brubek Quartet, Andy Mckee, Bill Miller, Muriel Anderson, Stephen Bennett, Vinx, Cliff Eberhardt, Dickey Betts, Levon Helm and many more.
