EAT & DRINK: Area restaurants, breweries mark plenty of celebrations

Mercato Ristorante and Bar will defend its title of “Chef’s Best” at this year’s cooking competition on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. at West Chester University Alumni & Foundation Center. Tickets are available at All proceeds, benefit ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, an interfaith organization that seeks to empower under-employed West Chester residents to stabilize their households and build toward sustainability.

The owners of soon-to-open Main & Vine in Villanova hired Charles Vogt as executive chef. Look for a “fresh-from-the-vine approach” and homemade sourdough in signature pizzas.

Coming soon to Phoenixville: Sedona Taphouse, rated “World Class” by Beer Advocate. It’s the chain’s first Pennsylvania location.

Get ready for spring with a new menu at Southern Cross Kitchen in Conshohocken. “There’s a lot of love put into each dish,” says co-owner Marianne Gere. Plus, now you can order online for delivery or pickup at all the Conshy Girls restaurants.

Head to At The Table in Wayne for Tuesday Tastings, four-course tasting menus honoring great chefs. First up: an homage to Julia Child Tuesday, March 13 followed by a tribute to Thomas Keller March 20 and 27, $55.
