For the past 20 years, the CCCS has hosted an excellence in vocal performance competition, open to any high school senior who resides, attends high school or studies music in Chester County. All winners are encouraged to perform the audition piece of their choice at the Choral Society’s Spring Concert on May 3 at 4 p.m.
Candidates must apply no later than Jan. 21 (postmarked by). A registration fee of $20 must be included with the application and be made payable to Chester County Choral Society. Following the application process, the competition committee will notify contestants of their specific audition time on Feb. 7.
CCCS reserves the right to limit the number of contestants.
The competition takes place on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Church Of The Good Samaritan, 212 W. Lancaster Avenue, Paoli.
Requirements include preparing three memorized pieces of music: Giuseppe Giordani’s “Caro mio ben” (Schirmer edition), a classical music selection (art song, lieder, aria, etc.) of your choice and a musical theater selection of your choice.
Contestants compete for the following awards: first place, $1,000 cash, certificate of achievement, and trophy plaque; second place, $500 cash, certificate of merit; third place, $250 cash, certificate of merit.
