A career in health care can be rewarding and challenging. The career opportunities are many and varied: Medical Lab Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, as well as the medical practice specialties, just to name a few.
The Greater Phoenixville Healthcare Scholarship has been providing college scholarships since 1995. Since then, ninety-five scholarships have been awarded to high school graduates within the greater Phoenixville region – all to students who are pursuing careers within the health care professions.
The Phoenixville Community Health Foundation has taken a lead role in administering this scholarship program. The Foundation partners with the Phoenixville Hospital, the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop, and the Phoenixville Hospital Medical Staff to fund the scholarships.
Application packets have been sent to the Principals, Guidance offices and Science Departments of the high schools whose graduates are eligible to apply: Technical College High School Pickering Campus, Great Valley, Methacton, Owen J. Roberts, Perkiomen Valley, Phoenixville, Pottsgrove, Pope John Paul VI, Spring-Ford High Schools and the Western Center for Technical Studies. The 2014 scholarship program will offer at least four separate scholarships. The scholarships are all $8,000 – $2,000 a year for up to four years.
Lynn Pike Hartman, Vice President for Programs at the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation stated, “This scholarship program is in keeping with the Foundation’s mission and strategic interests. We are pleased to be the administrative partner for the program again this year. I encourage the graduates of the Class of 2014 to consider a career in the health care field. For those who are looking in that direction I also encourage you to apply for this scholarship opportunity.”
The application deadline is April 4, 2014. Contact Lynn Pike Hartman, Foundation Vice President for Programs, at 610-917-9890 or LPHartman@pchf1.org with questions. Scholarship application packets may also be accessed through the Foundation’s website: www.pchf1.org under
