<![CDATA[Devon Prep baseball rallies around ailing facilities director]]> It may have been Friday the 13th, but bad luck was not a problem for Devon Prep's Varsity Baseball team as they defeated Elk County Catholic at Penn State University for the PIAA Class A State Championship.

This small, private school, with barely 200 students, competed against schools with more than three, four and five times the enrollment, and went all the way to the state championship for the first time in the school's history.

<![CDATA[PHOTOS: Great Race makes pit stop in Valley Forge]]> UPPER MERION - Over 100 classic and antique vehicles are currently taking part in the 2014 Great Race from Maine to Florida. It is the race's 31st year.

The oldest of those cars, a 1915 Hudson 6-40 from Newtown, Conn., along with the others, rolled to a stop Monday night at the Valley Forge Casino Resort in Upper Merion for an overnight pit stop on their trip.

UPPER MERION - With a finish line 2,100 miles and nine days away, the 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race only has time for a handful of primo pit stops along the route.

One of them will be an overnighter at Valley Forge Casino Resort on Monday, June 23.

The iconic 31-year-old race - the word "race" being a misnomer, since none of the 109 antique vehicles ever comes close to approaching Indy 500-level speeds on the highways of America - will launch on Saturday in Ogunquit, Maine, and wind its way through 13 states before putting on the brakes in Florida on June 29.

Members of the community gathered to celebrate the achievements of the dens and the pack as a whole throughout the 2013-14 school year.

Guests in attendance included Mayor Speck and Firebird Festival committee leader Henrik Stubbe Teglbjaerg, as well as dozens of family members who came to celebrate many of the boys' advancement to higher ranks.
