NORRISTOWN - A Schwenksville man who tried to disarm a state trooper while being taken into custody for a theft saw his hope to avoid going to jail dashed.

Matthew Billings Dowsett, 23, of the 500 block of Main Street, who according to court papers repeatedly told police that he was "not going back to prison," was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 1½ to eight years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to felony charges of aggravated assault and disarming a law enforcement officer in connection with a January 2014 incident.

Corbett for refusing to take the politically expedient route of putting more people into Medicaid without first reforming it. Simply giving more people "coverage" is not the same as giving them "care."

However, the only adequate condition for accepting Medicaid expansion is full state flexibility to reform the Medicaid program.

<![CDATA[Roll-over crash in Limerick sends 2 to hospital]]>

LIMERICK - Two people had to be pulled from a Toyota Sienna that struck a tree and rolled onto its side in a Monday afternoon crash.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 5:25 p.m. to Swamp Pike near the intersection with Fruitville Road for a one-vehicle crash.

Limerick Police at the scene said the minivan was headed in a westerly direction when the crash occurred.

<![CDATA[Sources: Fatal Collegeville shooting not a homicide]]>

COLLEGEVILLE - Police are not seeking a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday evening at an office building on Second Avenue, making it likely it was a suicide.

Although borough police Sunday confirmed the shooting occurred at 7:35 p.m., they provided few details.

Police did confirm that at least one ambulance was called to the scene, but there was no need to take anyone to a hospital.

COLLEGEVILLE - Lower Providence Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a fire on the 1000 block of Hildebidle Drive in Collegeville on Saturday night shortly after 7:30 p.m.

A statement released by the Lower Providence Police Department indicated the cause of the fire "seemed suspicious" and an investigation by the Lower Providence Township Police Department, the Lower Providence Fire Marshal, the Montgomery County Detective Bureau and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is ongoing.

NORRISTOWN - A Trappe man has been sentenced to state prison for terrorizing and stalking his ex-girlfriend in Hatfield.

Alexander Louis Koger Jr., 32, of the first block of Elio Circle, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to one to five years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of terroristic threats, stalking and driving under suspension in connection with a May 7, 2013, incident at Cowpath and Lenhart roads in Hatfield.

The event included food vendors, educational talks on the butterflies, a chance for children to see monarchs up close and, of course, the butterfly release at noon.
