<![CDATA[Spring-Ford School Board to study bus route safety]]> Royersford >> Facing mounting pressure from parents, the Spring-Ford Area School Board has agreed to take a closer look at its transportation policy.

The board announced an ad-hoc committee, composed of board members from each region, to review the various bus routes and cross walks in the district, to determine if there are safety issues to students.

<![CDATA[Phoenixville Fire Department says good-bye to Deputy Chief Brian Gallagher]]> Members of the Phoenixville Fire Department, Station 65, along with members of the surrounding fire companies said their final good-byes today to Deputy Chief Brian M. Gallagher, who died suddenly Aug. 28.

Brian joined the Phoenixville Fire Department in 1976. Through the years, Brian took on several roles including Lieutenant, Training Officer, lead chef for dinners and cookouts, and overseeing Phoenixville Fire Department Junior Program.

But, things changed a little after I had DNA testing by Ancestry.com. It did not come as a surprise that my ethnicity was 85 percent Eastern European, as my background (I thought) was only Hungarian and Slovak.

The play will be performed on Sept. 11-12, 18-19, 20 and 25-27.

In "Rehearsal for Murder," a playwright is devastated by the suicide of his fiancée, a famous actress, after her Broadway debut in his play.

<![CDATA[The Spinal Column: Can you save a spine with a back pack?]]> Ahhh... School is just about here. In my office I am hearing all sorts of emotional reactions. Me? How am I feeling? I am feeling determined. I am determined that this year we will help families become aware of the fact that back packs can cause damage to your child's spine. I recently read that more than 10,000 children nationally suffer from back pack related injuries!

I know that I am a chiropractor, so I am really focused on things having to do with the spine and nervous system, but as a parent, I find that a startling number.

<![CDATA[North Coventry man guilty in child sex abuse case]]> WEST CHESTER >> A Chester County Court jury has found a North Coventry man guilty on charges that he sexually assaulted a young girl over a period of years at homes in the township as well as in Norristown.

The jury of seven men and five women deliberated for about four hours Monday before finding Robert Stephen Fleming guilty on multiple counts of felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and related offenses.

It all started a few weeks earlier when Jerilyn sent me an email asking us if we might be in Minnesota sometime in July to visit our family.
