The event offered students with disabilities the opportunity to take part in a number of different athletic competitions, such as relay races, football tosses and other games that reinforce teamwork and motor skills.

A big breakfast at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, a walk through the Gettysburg Museum, a viewing of "A New Birth of Freedom" film, a presentation of the Gettysburg Cyclorama and a two-hour guided battlefield tour were all part of the educational and entertaining field trip.

<![CDATA[Children can swim for free in June at local YMCAs for Splash Week]]> Area YMCAs are offering free swim lessons to children for Splash Week June 1 through June 5.

The Splash program is meant to teach kids basic water safety instruction and swimming skills. The free lessons are available to preschool children ages 3 to 5 and youth ages 6 to 12. The lessons are taught in 30-minute classes over various time slots including mornings, afternoons and evenings.

The purpose of the study is to determine where sidewalks will work best in the township as well as the cost and design plans of these constructions
