PERKIOMEN TWP. - A 17-year-old Collegeville girl was walking on the sidewalk of the Route 113 bridge over the Perkiomen Creek when she was hit around 12:55 p.m. July 8.

The pedestrian failed to look for oncoming traffic and stepped into the path of a 2015 Mazda 6 driven by an 18-year-old woman from Collegeville, police said.

William George Geffken Jr., 47, and Amber Rae Carey, 23, both of Phoenixville, were both charged with multiple felony counts of manufacturing, delivering and/or possessing drugs as well as criminal use of a communication facility, among multiple misdemeanor charges.

<![CDATA[West Nile virus detected in Chesco and Montco]]> West Nile virus has been detected in mosquito samples collected in both Chester and Montgomery county this year.

According to the West Nile Virus Control Program website, run by Pennsylvania, Chester County has had four mosquito samples test positive and Montgomery County has had two.

No human cases of West Nile virus have yet been reported for 2014.

LIMERICK - Police are warning township residents of a phone scam in which the perpetrators act as if they are with the IRS.

For at least the last two months, scammers have called township residents posing as IRS agents demanding a transfer of cash which they claim is owed to the agency, according to the Limerick Police.
