Flames were shooting from the rear of the house, when fire companies arrived at 8:39 p.m., but firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, according to Fire Chief Ken Shuler.

<![CDATA[Montgomery County Commissioners approve contract to begin text to 911 program]]> NORRISTOWN >> In May, those unable to call for help in Montgomery County will be able to text for it.

On Friday, the commissioners approved a contract for $114,450 to Intrado Inc. of Longmont, Co. to begin the updates to implement the text to 911 system in Montgomery County.

"This is yet another example of our public safety department taking a step to both modernize itself and be more accessible to the people who are in need of reporting emergencies," Commissioner's Chairman Josh Shapiro said.

<![CDATA[Graterford inmate sentenced to county jail for throwing liquid at corrections officer]]> NORRISTOWN >> A Philadelphia man serving time at State Correctional Institute Graterford in Skippack for rape and robbery will go straight to county jail when his state sentence is complete.

Muwsa Green, 26, last living in Philadelphia before being sentenced to prison, was sentenced to six to 23 months in Montgomery County Correctional Facility on Monday morning after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated harassment.
