Hundreds of students enjoy ‘Fun in the Sun' at PV Post Prom

Perkiomen Valley High School was transformed into the-closest-thing-to-a-beach on May 17 for the annual Post Prom event, with this year’s theme being “Fun in the Sun.” Hallways were transformed into ocean, picnic, boardwalk and camping scenes to evoke the many fun activities that take place in the summer.

The event was the perfect way to continue the celebration after Perkiomen Valley High School’s prom. Post Prom took place from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., giving students a place to gather together in a drug- and alcohol-free environment. The event is a memorable night for participants, who are offered a huge variety of creative games, activities, food and prizes.

Approximately 330 students attended this fun-filled event. Some of the many activities included were making wax hands, an inflatable obstacle course, movies, raffles, caricatures, laser tag, karaoke and more.

Parents and volunteers from around the community helped make this year’s Post Prom a success. The PV Post Prom Committee consists of many people in the area, even those without students at PVHS. The team is always looking for more volunteers so the program can stay active over the years. Because the event itself benefits the community at-large by reducing the number of teens on the road following prom, those all across the community are welcomed to become Post Prom Committee members.


To ensure that the 2014-15 PV Post Prom will be as successful, the committee is encouraging community members to sign up in advance to be a part of the planning and organization. Volunteers do not need to have children at Perkiomen Valley High School to be a part of this event, which benefits the entire community by keeping young people safe.
