Each year, Gift of Life Donor Program honors the regionís living donors in an effort to highlight the critical need for more organ and tissue donors. In 2014, Gifts of Lifeís Acts of Love Living Donor Recognition Ceremony was held on Sunday, March 2, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in King of Prussia. Any person who donated a life-saving organ, such as a kidney or liver, within the past year was invited to attend the event, along with their transplant recipient. More than 20 pairs of living donors and recipients were joined by their family and friends as well as staff from the regionís hospitals. At this yearís event, donors were honored and recognized by Gift of Life and their recipients for their selflessness and generosity in giving the gift of life.

The keynote speaker for the event was KYW NewsRadio 1060ís Jim Melwert, who is a living donor and donated a kidney to his aunt, Jean DelMuto.

Local attendees and honorees included donor John Emery from Phoenixville and recipient Charles McIntosh from Pottstown.
