LOWER FREDERICK >> Perkiomen Valley School District is asking parents an important questions about their children: Have you had the conversation?
The school district will be hosting an event on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Perkiomen Valley Middle School West aimed at offering advice to parents about how to speak with their children about substance abuse. The district is partnering with Be Part of the Conversation, a non-profit group focused on addressing “substance use, misuse and addiction and its impact on individuals and their families by building a culture of awareness and support,” according to their website.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Perkiomen Valley Middle School West.
Though the talk is geared toward elementary school parents, anyone is welcome to attend. It is suggested that parents do not attend this event with their children.
The talk will include a panel of experts from Perkiomen Valley and will focus on topics including when and how children are introduced to substances, how to have a conversation with a loved one struggling with addiction and what to do if your child might be experimenting with drugs.
To attend, parents can register at pvelementaryconversation.eventbrite.com.
