WEST VINCENT >> St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will host a blessing of the animals on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 2-4 p.m. The date chosen specifically to represent St. Francis of Assisi, patron Saint of Animals, as it’s close to the Feast of St. Francis which is Oct. 4. Rev. Tommy Thompson, who has been with St. Andrew’s for over a year now, adores animals and wholeheartedly wanted to implement this service and offer this to the community. With lots of farms in Chester County near St. Andrew’s Church they hope horses, cows, dogs, cats, scaly creatures and various other farm animals all come to get blessed! Grateful for local business partners who are providing items for raffles in addition to helping to promote this worthy event are: Ludwigs Corner Veterinary Hospital, Eleanor Russell Ltd., Pickering Valley Feed and Farm, and Great Beginnings Preschool. A few animal rescues have been contacted with the possibility of featuring pets for adoption and having them receive a special blessing as well. The event will include an animal parade with all of the animals that come for the service, pony rides, raffles, and a few games, offering some fun for the entire family. St. Andrew’s Church is located at 7 St. Andrews Ln, Glenmoore, PA 19343. For more information, visit www.standrewschesco.org.
