Jewelry thief rappels into King of Prussia Costco

UPPER MERION >> Authorities are investigating a brazen jewel heist at a Costco in King of Prussia Feb. 6 in which the suspect reportedly rappelled from the ceiling of the big box retailer to the storeroom floor.

According to the police report, officers responded to an alarm at the building at 201 Allendale Road around 1 a.m. The investigation revealed that the suspect somehow gained access to the roof, and made entry by breaking through a skylight.

The thief then rappelled into the store and stole jewelry from a jewelry case before leaving through a rear door toward the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

There is no word on whether or not the suspect had an accomplice, what items of jewelry were stolen or their value, as investigators are releasing little information citing an ongoing investigation.

Representatives from Costco’s corporate offices also declined to comment because the investigation remains active.
