PHOENIXVILLE — While officials were trying to transport a mental health patient into an ambulance at Phoenixville Hospital, he escaped and ran up Route 29, disrupting Phoenixville High School’s girls’ soccer practice.
The escape occurred around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
He allegedly ran onto the field where the students were practicing under their coach’s supervision.
Phoenixville Police quickly responded and took the man, who was reportedly only wearing a hospital gown, into custody. He allegedly struggled with police before he was successfully detained.
His identity was not released but police were able to return him for treatment.
