PHOENIXVILLE — Borough police are investigating a reported theft on the north side of town in which the suspect’s haul was six cans of Pepsi and a block of cheese.
Just after 11 a.m. Tuesday, a woman found a man in her open garage on the 5000 block of Swan Drive, according to Phoenixville Police.
He was described as being white, in his 40s with “hair down to his ears,” skinny, and wearing jeans and “ratty sneakers” with a camouflage backpack.
After allegedly taking the soda and cheese from a refrigerator in the garage, he ran out, police said.
“While the subject was running out of the garage, he knocked the homeowner to the ground,” according to a police incident report.
“She engaged him and was pushed to the ground as he ran away,” said Phoenixville Police Chief William Mossman.
The homeowner reportedly suffered a minor wrist injury but refused treatment.
Police attempted to track down the alleged thief with the help of a Chester County Sheriff’s K-9 unit, but the subject was not found.
A potential suspect was briefly detained but determined not to be the wanted man, according to the incident report.
