ROYERSFORD — An 18-year-old man is charged with rape after allegedly admitting to having sex with a 12-year-old girl six separate times over the last month, court records state.
Royersford Police responded to 200 block Walnut Street around 2:30 p.m. Aug. 1 for a “report of a disturbance,” according to an affidavit of probable cause tied to the case.
Police determined that the “disturbance” involved Brandon John Kohler, who lived at the residence where police reported to, and the father of the 12-year-old girl “in regard to allegations that Kohler had sexual intercourse” with the man’s daughter, the affidavit said.
Kohler was injured in the incident, police said, and need treatment.
“While I was waiting for EMS, I placed [Kohler] in the rear of my police SUV with no handcuffs and the door wide-open to separate him from the other male,” wrote Royersford Police Officer Tom Godin in the affidavit. “At this time, the defendant stated to me, without being questioned, ‘His daughter initiated the sex.’”
After being transported to Reading Hospital and Medical Center, police reportedly read Kohler his rights and he agreed to give a statement.
He allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl six times in the last 30 days, as well as other sexual contact.
As a result, Kohler was arrested and charged with six felony counts of rape of a child, six felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, felony aggravated assault with a person less than 13 years old and two different misdemeanors: indecent exposure and corruption of minors.
Arraigned Aug. 2 before District Judge Maurice Saylor, Kohler’s bail was set at $50,000, cash. He did not post the bail and was sent to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Aug. 14.
There is no word of whether the father of the girl, neither of whom are named in the court documents, will face any charges for the altercation with Kohler.
