Daryn Pittman led all 35 laps, but it ws Brian Montieth who was the show on July 17 at the Lincoln Speedway. Pittman started on the pole and bested Outlaw (King” Steve Kinser into turn one as the field trailed with Montieth way back in 15th spot. Lap after lap Montieth picked off the Outlaws before passing Joey Saldana for second on lap 23 and then set his sites on Pittman. On lap 26, Montieth got under Pittman to take a brief lead. However, Pittman was able to hold him off for the $10,000 win. Montieth held on for second with Alan Krimes, Saldana and Danny Dietrich completing the top five.
Greg Hodnett drove the Michael Heffner #27 to victory on July 18 at Williams Grove Speedway. Hodnett picked up $10,000 for the 25-lap win, his second win of the week. Hodnett won July 16 at Bridgeport, N.J.) Brett Marks was second, followed by Joey Saldana, Shane Stewart and Daryn Pittman.
On July 20 morning, Lance Dewease would hold off Donny Schatz to win $20,000 in the World of Outlaws-sanctioned Summer Nationals A-main for his first Grove win of the season and the 300th of his sprint car career.
Donny Schatz, Lucus Wolfe, Cody Darrah and Alan Krimes completed the top five.
A rain shower hit the speedway just as the B-main was lining up on the track. It delayed the show for more than two hours. Donnie Kreitz set the fast time for the 44-car field with a lap of 16.757 seconds. Joey Saldana, Rodney Westhafer, Lucas Wolfe and Donny Schatz were the top five qualifiers. Lance Dewease, Alan Krimes, Cody Darrah and Shane Stewart won the eight-lap heat races. Ryan Taylor took the C-main. Dewease won the dash while Dave Blaney won the B-main.
Ray Swinehart beat Rick Laubach to the line July 18 in the 358 Modified feature. Frank Cozze finished third with Duane Howard fourth and Kyle Follweiler fifth. Wayne Witmer took the 25-lap Sportsman feature over Doug Hendricks, JR Fulper and Craig Whitmoyer. Chris Holland won the Roadrunner feature.
Tim Buckwalter, an ARDC midget racing standout, has won several midget features at Grandview Speedeay, but he had never won a 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 358 Modifeid feature until July 19 in the activities sponsored by Hatfield Quality Meats and televised by RCN-TV. Points leader Randy Stoudt topped the field in the 25-lap BRC Late Model feature race while Jared Umbenhauer continued his record-setting pace, winning the 25-lap Sportsman feature race for his ninth win of the season.
Buckwalter, the 2013 Modified rookie, teamed up with Jerry and Linda Rogue for the season to drive their No. 22. Several weeks ago after the car was destoryed in a wreck in the homestretch, the team took some time off, got a new frame and returned to action. They strugged for a while, but had the car in top-notch running order for this race. He thanked all of his sponsors for sticking with him and making everything possible. Tim Buckwalter now has three more wins to go to tie his father, Rick, in career wins. The Royersford racer collected $2,900, which included $250 from T.P. Trailers and a $150 product award from VP Racing Fuels.
Despite several attempts to the race started at Selinsgrove Speedway, persistent rain held the upper hand and eventually forced track officials to cancel the show at 9:45 p.m.
Billy Pauch Jr. won the USA Championship SpeedSTR feature of 30 laps with Brad Brightbill second and Billy Pauch Sr. third.
Mike Rutherford captured the Pioneer Pole Building Wingless 600cc Sprint feature of 25 laps. Billy Pauch Jr. came in sixth and Tim Buckwalter finished eighth.
Brett Bieber won the Kutztown Komet 100 for All Star Slingshots. That race covered 100 laps. Pete Knappenberger finished first in the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Slingshot feature, which was postponed on July 9. The race included 20 laps.
