LOWER PROVIDENCE Lower Providence Fire Department cut the door off of a car on Egypt Road Sunday after a two-vehicle crash entrapped two subjects in one vehicle.

At approximately 1:11 p.m., fire personnel and Lower Providence Police Department personnel responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash between a BMW sedan and a Kia SUV at the intersection of Egypt Road and Casselberry Drive. The crash entrapped both the driver and passenger of the BMW, according to Lower Providence Fire Chief James Alexander III.

After cutting off the door to the BMW, fire personnel were able to get the two subjects out of the vehicle. One person from each vehicle was driven by Lower Providence Ambulance to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Egypt Road between Surrey Lane and Pinetown Road was shut down for the duration of the rescue and clean-up efforts and was opened up as soon as the road was clear, according to Alexander.
