Phoenixville split a Chester County League Senior American Legion baseball doubleheader against Conestoga on July 6.
The Athletics won the first game, 9-2, before dropping the second game to the Cannons, 7-5.
In the opener, Phoenxiville exploded for seven runs in the third inning and banged out 10 hits in the contest. The A’s also scored one run in the fourth and one more in the seventh. Conestoga tallied two runs in the fourth.
Cole Luzins was the winning pitcher, scattering eight hits and giving up two earned runs, with six strikeouts and one walk. He also went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in the third and two runs scored.
Joey Little finished 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the fourth. Zach Gallow was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and had a two-run single in the third. Will Slover was 2-for-2 with one run scored.
Little had two double while Gallow, Luzins and Jason Waltman each had one. Chris Kucewicz drew a bases-loaded walk to force home a run.
In the second game, Phoenixville scored one run in the second, three in the fifth and one in the sixth while finishing with six hits.
Brett Arney had two hits and one run. Luzins tripled and had two RBIs with one run. Little doubled and had one RBI.
Bryan Furr took the setback, giving up eight hits and six earned rns with one strikeout and four walks. Brett Sommers relieved for three innings and gave up one hit and one earned run with two walks and no strikeouts.
