NORRISTOWN — A Royersford man will be under court supervision for three years after he admitted to exposing his genitals to a female neighbor.
Drake Preston Bearden Sr., 57, of the 500 block of Walnut Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to three years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure in connection with incidents that occurred in August 2013. Judge Gary S. Silow, who accepted a plea agreement in the matter, ordered Bearden to have no contact with the female neighbor who witnessed his conduct.
The judge said Bearden will be monitored by members of the county probation department’s sex offender supervision division during the course of his probationary period. Under such intensive supervision, probation officers can require offenders to undergo counseling and can make unannounced visits to offenders’ homes.
With the charges, Royersford police alleged Bearden exposed his genitals to a female neighbor on two occasions between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12. The woman told police she saw Bearden in his back yard on Aug. 6 at which time he was wrapped in a towel, pulling it aside and exposing his penis, according to the criminal complaint. Bearden proceeded to masturbate while looking into the victim’s window, Royersford Detective John O’Keefe wrote in the arrest affidavit.
The woman told police Bearden committed similar acts again on Aug. 12, according to the criminal complaint.
Police indicated in court papers that they had contact with Bearden regarding similar alleged conduct in 2010.
By pleading guilty to the indecent exposure charges, Bearden admitted to unlawfully exposing his genitals in a public place under circumstances in which he knew that the conduct was likely to offend, affront or alarm others who were present.
Other charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct were dismissed against Bearden as part of the plea agreement.
