Spring City posted two victories in a pair of road Chester County League Senior American Legion baseball games on June 28.
The Red Sox improved their record to 8-7 with a 3-0 win over Oxford and a 7-4 win over Avon Grove. The Red Sox then added a 13-2 rout of Caln on June 30.
In the first game, Joe Roth pitched a five-hitter as Spring City beat the Braves. Roth recorded 11 strikeouts in the contest while posting a complete-game shutout.
David Gulati and Shane Emrich each had one run batted in, and Owen Gulati finished 2-for-4 to key Spring City’s offense.
The Red Sox completed their sweep as Cody Brown, David Gulati and Corey Rantz each collected two hits. The Red Sox scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to offset Avon Grove’s three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Vinnie Togno, who relieved starter Evan Myers in the second inning, gained the win with the aid of four strikeouts.
Against Caln, Brown threw all five innings of the game that ended early due to the mercy rule. He allowed two runs while fanning eight batters.
Devon Zimmerman slammed a key run-scoring double that plated Jeremiah Ndjali in the last inning. Nate Fretz went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI while Owen Gulati went 2-for-4 with one run scored. Emrich went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run, and Rantz finished 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs.
