Groups of local students organized clean-up and service projects recently, just in time for Earth Day. Service efforts in the Phoenixville area included Valley Forge Christian College’s 12th Annual Community Service Day April 16 and Amanda’s Annual Clean Up Crew, a group of Phoenixville area students organized by Amanda Monachelli who pick up trash along Spring City Road each year.

For their day of service this year, students from Valley Forge Christian College raked leaves, mowed lawns, and spread mulch on playgrounds and picked up trash at two Phoenixville parks.

Amanda’s Annual Clean Up Crew originally planned to do their yearly cleanup in East Pikeland on Tuesday, April 15, but had to push it back two days due to rain. Despite having a smaller group because of the date change, they persevered to clean up the stretch of road.
